ABSTRACT

The study was on the impacts of WLB on the performance of employees in organizations in Uganda. Kinyara Sugar Limited (KSL) was used as a case study. The general objective of the research was to identify the impacts of Work life Balance on the performance of employees in organizations in Uganda. The research problem was broken down into specific objectives. These included: to identify the work Life Balance Initiatives that have been put in place in KSL; to identify the impacts of WLB on the family life of employees of KSL; and to examine the impacts of WLB on the level of corruption of employees in KSL. This was done on the assumption that; Corruption and family life can affect employee performance in organizations like Kinyara Sugar Limited. The study employed a cross sectional quantitative research design. This enabled the researcher to collect primary data from employees with different interests. Employees came from the Human Resource Department, finance department, factory secretariat, factory department, and agricultural department. The research revealed hat Kinyara Sugar Limited has put in place job sharing, flexible work time, schools for children, and personal leave. Others are staff quarters, and transport facilities. He also found out that, work has both negative and positive impacts on family life of employees. Furthermore, it was found out, that WLB has an impact on the level of corruption of employees. The researcher recommended the management of KSW and other similar organizations to put in place more WLBI so as to rip their benefits. Employees were recommended to use their time in a well managed manner. For further researchers, they were recommended to research on the impacts of WLB on employee performance in other organizations. For the case of KSL, research can be carried out on the WLB initiatives that can enhance performance.
